YSS Blog Updates

It had been six months since the YSS board decided to ramp up efforts to expand the offerings and encourage more content on this, your blog. Started in late 2007 and maintained over the years by our webmistress Jill Liniger with Rhuhama Korditzky adding posts as well, the blog has been the voice for YSS news and events.  With the addition of blog administrators Beth Lokken, Leah Langby and Marge Loch-Wouters in January of this year, the blog posts have been flying out to Wisconsin youth librarians - and librarians across the country!

Now Jill is stepping aside to concentrate more on her work as director at Oak Creek Library. YSS owes a huge debt of gratitude to Jill for her work on all YSS's web efforts, including and most notably this blog.  She has nurtured the blog from it's inception and been a great advocate and teacher for the rest of us administrators as we have each in turn added content and blogged. Thanks Jill!  We wouldn't be here without your leadership and commitment (and Jill will still be posting, so watch for her byline).

As always, when one door closes another opens. Kristin Pekoll, Teen Librarian at West Bend Public Library, will step in to join her YSS  blog colleagues as new administrator. Kristin is a passionate advocate for youth services and brings a fresh bright humor to her work and presentations.  She jumps right in the quarterly rotation as blog administrator for June. Welcome!

Please don't forget to submit your idea for a new blog name. Sue Abrahamson wrote: "You could win a Perplexus Rookie! Just submit your new name for the YSS Events, News & Info blog by June 15th.  Our blog has really had a lot of success reaching not just Wisconsin youth services librarians, but librarians all over the country.  Our hits have jumped to 60-90 views/day.  We share everything on the blog.  It needs a name that reflects this excitement!  Something that says, "Look at us!  We're doing great things in Wisconsin with and for young readers!"  Send your suggestions to Sue Abrahamson, YSS Chair"

Finally, YSS members, remember: this is your blog. If you would like to write a post of interest to YSS members, have an event you want others to know about, please do and submit it to the email address above. We love the many voices represented in this blog.
