From the Summer 2010 Issue of Communique
The Milwaukee County Teen Book Award (MCTB) is a county wide initiative started by the Young Adult Services Committee to promote teen reading and literature by highlighting well written and popular books publichsed for 6th – 12th graders. In its inaugural year, the MCTBA committee selected 15 high caliber titles that meet a variety of qualifications. The winners were then selected by committee discussion and teen votes.
And the winner of the 2010 MCTBA award is Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson! There are also three honor books: If I Stay by Gayle Forman, Response by Paul Volponi, and the teen vote winner, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
