The American Library Association's Midwinter Meeting in San Diego might be over, but the momentum of the event can continue with online courses from the Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC). This winter, ALSC is offering four courses designed to expand, enliven and excite your experience in library services.
The winter course selections are: Information Literacy-From Preschool to High School, taught my Maryann Mori; The Newbery Medal: Past, Present and Future, taught by Kathleen T. Horning; Introduction to Graphic Novels for Children, taught by Janet Weber; and Out of this World Youth Programming taught by Angela Young. Courses run five or six weeks, depending on the course.
These exciting courses are presented through Moodle, ALA's easy-to-learn web-based learning community. With Moodle, class discussions are lively and on-topic, orchestrated through our dedicated instructors.
Registration is now open, but please note that the final day to sign up is Monday, January 31, 2011. Courses begin Monday, February 7, 2011.
Detailed descriptions and registration information is available on the ALSC Web site at www.ala.org/alsced. Fees are $95 for personal ALSC members; $145 for personal ALA members; and $165 for non-members. Questions? Please contact ALSC Program Officer Jenny Najduch at jnajduch@ala.org or 1-800-545-2433 ext. 4026.
