There has been a lot of buzz about Library 2.0 over the past few years, and many libraries have devoted significant staff time toward implementing Web 2.0 technologies and developing innovative services to keep up with their changing patron population. One look at the number of abandoned library blogs, wikis and MySpace profiles tells us that successful implementation of Web 2.0 technologies requires more than simply installing software. It takes a special culture to nurture creativity and support the development of innovative and user-centered service in libraries.
Farkas will discuss why so many innovative initiatives fail and what organizations need to do to position themselves to harness the creativity of their staff and deploy innovative services in ways that will ensure success.
