10th Annual International Children's and Young Adult Literature Celebration

Open a Door... Open a Book...Open your Mind... to the WorldSaturday, November 19, 2011
8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tripp Commons, Memorial Union - Madison, WI

Featuring Award-winning Authors: Atinuke (via Skype), Kathleen Horning, Anne Pellowski, & Mitali Perkins

This year marks our tenth anniversary of bringing together award-winning authors, dedicated educators, librarians, students, and children’s literature enthusiasts to explore cultures and histories from around the world. In the full-day, interactive workshop authors present on their writing and discuss the stories they have written, highlighting cultural nuances and universal themes.

Inspired by international literature? For our 10th year milestone we welcome past and present participants to share the impact of this celebration in their classrooms, libraries, and in their lives. Send us your photos, lesson plans, book reviews, articles or any other examples of how you internationalized reading in your world. We will post these online and in a poster session at the event.

A program of the Wisconsin International Outreach Consortium (WIOC).

This event coincides with International Education Week, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.
