Take a Number Please

I love the simplicity and the idea of what Anne at So Tomorrow's blog talks about for their chapter series books - they put uniform numbers on them to help the kids easily find what they are looking for.

We often forget in our zeal to do things just so that we can actually do more to make our collections easily accessible for kids. I am all about Ranganathan's Five Laws of Library Science and this idea really fits #4:
  1. Books are for use.
  2. Every reader his [or her] book.
  3. Every book its reader.
  4. Save the time of the reader.
  5. The library is a growing organism.
