A New Year, A Look Back - and Thanks

This blog is just over five years old. It was the first blog for our Wisconsin Library Association and, of course, the gung-ho Youth Services Section would be the pioneers to make it happen. Designed and started in the waning days of 2007 by Jill Linniger, it was nurtured by her and Ruhama Kordatzky-Bahr for the first three years. It grew from a few hundred visits a month to almost 1000 views a month.

In 2011, we added a rotating group of administrators to help boost content and scope.  Leah Langby, Beth Lokken and I joined Jill and Ruhama and curated content for specific months as well as added content as the spirit moved us.  People stepped in and out of the rotation - now our merry band includes Kristin Pekoll and Jamie Matzcak as well.

The blog readership has kept growing as well. We now routinely get anywhere from 2,500 to 3000 views monthly.  626 posts later,  this blog remains a vibrant part of our youth services landscape in Wisconsin. We have been able to feature the ideas and writing of many of our YSS members during this time.  The shared ideas help us get to know each other just a little better everyday.

I want to thank everyone who has worked on this blog and contributed guest posts over the years. You have all made Youth Service Shout-out mighty!

I also want to invite our Wisconsin YSS members to consider writing a post sharing thoughts, ideas, programs and program plans. We'd love to highlight your work. Just drop us an email with your article to lochwouters@gmail.com and share the youth services love!!
