Marvel's new America

I've been pretty impressed lately with Marvel's new line of superheroes.  Ms. Marvel, the Pakistani American teen hero offers a window/ mirror look at Muslim teens while not being particularly "about" the fact that she's Muslim.  Instead, we ahve a full female character, dealing with pressure from parents, wanting to fit in with friends, and who happens to have become a superhero on a walk home one night.

Now we can look forward to America Chavez in March.  A queer, Latino superhero who will defend us all from aliens while travelling interdimensionally to classes. 

I, for one, can't wait to see what other fabulous, feminist heroes Marvel has in store.
