Check out this great article called "The Velcro Effect" from the Winter 2021 edition of Children and Libraries magazine (put out by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of ALA).
The article is a thoughtful call to evaluate what kind of impact you want your programming to have. The article gives easy, practical examples of adding educational value to library programs. Library programs can be both recreational and educational!
