Outreach and SWAG and Stuff
Loved this post on the ALSC blog this week about getting specific with your kid-friendly outreach swag. We've recently been considering this as well as our outreach efforts have boosted this summer and fall.
Right now, we tend to hand out candy (which is sometimes NOT so appreciated). We've also tried a variety of activities such as cup stacking, Art Spots, bookmark crafts, book giveaways and more.
Some of us are pretty excited to mix things up by trying out Sara Bryce's idea for table top outreaches, found on her blog.
This weekend we are attempting to create our first ever little pretend library at an outreach--complete with book scanner, fake library cards and stampers, and a storytime rug. I think this could make some of our festival outreaches a little more fun.
Are you doing anything new and exciting with your YS outreach services?

Thanks for the shout-out, Dawn! Brooke told me about using the wheel as an update to the SRP nonfiction game, which is really awesome. Your pretend library sounds like a great idea too!
