TeachingBooks Launches Free Chrome Extension

In an effort to help all students discover and seamlessly connect to children’s and young adult books and authors, TeachingBooks just launched their Book Connections Chrome Extension.  This free extension from the Chrome Web Store enhances Google searches on subjects, topics, book titles, favorite series, authors or awards, by instantly yielding TeachingBooks’ recommended book titles and immediate access to resources. Download the extension at TeachingBooks.net/ChromeExtension.

“We want to build connections to great books and authors for every reader,” says TeachingBooks founder Nick Glass. “We know how easy and prevalent Google searches are, so we connected everyone’s search results with TeachingBooks’ authoritative collection of more than 230,000 resources about the most read children’s and young adult books. It is so rewarding and helpful to get titles with ready-to-use resources everytime you search your favorite title, authors, or any term, such as ‘astronauts’ ‘civil rights’ or ‘dogs’.

The TeachingBooks Book Connections results appear in the upper right of the Google search page, and take users directly to...

  • Book and author resources

  • Read-along audiobook performances

  • Discussion questions

  • Author interviews

  • Video book trailers

  • Vocabulary lists and more.

The Chrome Extension is one of multiple  new TeachingBooks tools designed to help all readers connect to children’s and young adult books. Also launched recently are...

“Hands-free Book Browsing” empowers all students to select books by both reading passages of the text while listening to a read-along audiobook performance.

“Virtual Teaching Ideas” offer educators jumping-off points that deepen discussions, inspire reading interest, and support virtual connections to books and authors.

These are just a few aspects of TeachingBooks’ robust effort to support schools, libraries, families, and young readers worldwide during this challenging time.

Free access to TeachingBooks is available to all at TeachingBooks.net/VirtualLearning
