Today, on Friday July 9, the CBS morning show did a 6 1/2 minute segment featuring author Renee Watson and K.T. Horning from the CCBC - Cooperative Children's Book Center. They discussed the importance of children having access to diverse books in their reading. The also talked about how difficult this can be when the publishing world, both in the present time and historically, has been overwhelming white.
This gentle yet info-packed segment, hosted by Tony Dokoupil, does a great job of explaining the importance of diverse books.
