Today's update is from Claire Parrish, YSS 2022 Chair and Public Services Director at Rice Lake Public Library.
This month the YSS board had a short, but highly productive meeting. Our marketing committee is set to start promoting events, the Children’s Book Award committee is busy reading, and Jenny and Linda are hard at work getting a YSS luncheon speaker scheduled. While the WLA conference doesn’t take place until November, the planning is already well underway – it takes a lot of work to make this wonderful event happen! Quickly approaching is the equally valuable Wisconsin Association of Public Libraries conference, taking place May 11-13th, at the Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee, WI. YSS hopes to see lots of you there, and be on the lookout for details on our conference social event once the schedule is finalized.
Mark your calendars for March 17, which will be the date for our first virtual meet-up of the year. Time of the event and our surprise library hosts will be announced in early March. YSS is also in cahoots with WLA and the Intellectual Freedom special interest group to pull together a timely and applicable webinar on advocating for intellectual freedom and navigating challenges at your library. Keep your eyes peeled for additional information in the coming weeks.
As always, YSS has lots on the burner to share with our fellow staff serving youth!
