The Wisconsin Science Festival is back this October now for a full week! Find out more about how to get your library and communities involved in this statewide celebration of science October 10-16.
There will be a virtual kickoff party on Tuesday, April 26 11:30-12:30pm on Zoom for any libraries or community organizations to learn more about how to get involved. The session will be recorded so even if you can’t attend, you are encouraged to register to receive the recording afterwards (register here).
As an example of how libraries are already connecting with the festival, a project involving UW-Madison scientists studying penguins and polar research is bringing the Arctic and Antarctic to life in rural and Latinx communities through virtual reality! Six libraries are part of an advisory group to help design an experience that works for their community and will debut this as a public event during the festival in October. A big shoutout to Winding Rivers Library System, Independence Public Library, Arcadia Public Library, Brewer Public Library, Chilton Public Library, and Portage Public Library for participating and hopefully creating an experience more libraries can benefit from in the coming years of the project!
