BookTok Resources & A Teen Services Webinar

Webinar

Teen services staff—here is a great archived webinar called, "Trending Library: Engaging Teens in Your Library." The webinar is by high school librarian Kelsey Bogan; she is a school librarian, but what she shares is very relevant to public libraries.

In the above-mentioned webinar, Kelsey talks about leveraging the momentum of BookTok. (BookTok is any video on TikTok that is a reader recommending books to others. Some of these book recommendations go viral, and it's now common for readers to choose their reading material based off of BookTok/TikTok videos).

Learn what BookTok is and what you should do about it in Kelsey's article here. Kelsey says, "It is critical that Librarians, especially those who handle collection development and/or readers advisory, stay up to date on which books and authors are trending on booktok, because if you serve teens or adults you are absolutely going to have patrons requesting those books and authors."

Not a social media user? Don’t keep up with what books are trending? Barnes & Noble has a BookTok page you can visit to learn what's trending.
