Waunakee Public Library - Youth Services Librarian (full-time) 

The Waunakee Public Library is excited to announce the availability of the Youth Services Librarian. This position functions at a higher level of autonomy, professionalism, and independent judgment than an entry level position.  Professional development and community outreach are also key expectations. While this position serves all youth from birth through high school, this position will emphasize service for elementary school-aged children from pre-Kindergarten through grade 4. 

A Master’s degree in Library Science is required. Starting pay rate is $23.65 to $24.85 per hour, DOQ, plus full benefits.  Click Here for a complete job description. Bellville Public Library - Youth Services Coordinator (part-time)

Belleville Public Library seeks a friendly, energetic, organized person who enjoys working with children of all ages to coordinate our youth services program in our new library. The ability to provide high quality early literacy learning experiences for preschoolers and caregivers is a must for our growing community. Come join our team!

This 25 hour per week position will be responsible for:
  • Youth Services – Delivering programming for children, teens, and families. Assisting in collection development. Building partnerships within our community.
  • Makerspace –Using your tech skills to develop STEAM-based programming.
  • Circulation – Helping our patrons make best use of our library by providing circulation, readers’ advisory, and tech help at our circulation desk.

Kaukauna Public Library - Youth Services Librarian (full-time)

Under the supervision of the Library Director and/or Assistant Director, the Youth Services Librarian performs essential reference functions while staffing service desks, plans, organizes and conducts youth programs, participates in library outreach efforts, selects materials for purchase, catalogs materials, and supports patron and staff use of technology. This position is expected to work a standard work week of 37.5 hours and is also expected to participate in various meetings and work-related functions outside the standard work week. 

§ Serve at service desks to provide reference, reader’s advisory and other patron assistive services an average of ten hours a week.

§ Plan, develop, organize, and conduct innovative youth library programs and services for children and teens.

§ Lead, train, and mentor Library Assistants to ensure that youth programs and services are planned, prepped, and presented in a manner reflecting the values of Kaukauna Public Library.

§ Participate in library outreach as a representative of the library and work with community groups and organizations on partner projects and events.

§ Serve as the staff liaison to local school districts, including overseeing student volunteers.

§ Order library materials for assigned collections and oversee the complete collection development cycle.

§ Work with staff to create timely displays and oversee the physical space of the youth department.

§ Assist with collecting library statistics.

§ Write and manage grant applications and projects.

§ Work with patrons and staff on technology and operation of library equipment.

§ Attend applicable Library System meetings and participate in state conferences when budgeted.

§ Service on additional committees or board as a representative of the library.

§ As needed, catalog and process materials.

§ Performs additional duties as assigned by the Library Director and/or Assistant Director.

Master of Library and Information Science from an American Library Association Accredited Institution or equivalent library experience.

§ Customer service experience with a commitment to high quality service.

§ Proficient with computer applications

§ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

§ Ability to work independently and as part of a team; flexible and able to v. accept change.

§ Maintains confidentiality and uses appropriate judgment in handling information and records.

§ Works accurately with attention to detail.

§ Has working knowledge of traditional and electronic resources and excellent online searching skills.

§ Advanced knowledge of computers, software and electronic equipment.

§ Able to follow detailed directions.

§ Able to work independently, organize and prioritize work, and respond to changing work demands.

§ Working knowledge of library methods and procedures.

§ Working knowledge of English grammar and spelling.

§ Ability to interpret and apply technical regulations and instructions.

§ Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information both in written and verbal form with library patrons, staff and supervisors.

§ Ability to calculate basic arithmetic problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
