Muskego Public Library             Children's Librarian (full-time)

The Muskego Public Library is hiring a full-time Children’s Librarian to bring amazing programs and literacy opportunities to the community!  This is a well-loved position, which worked as part of a team to support 399 in-person children’s programs and 11,466 attendees last year.  This position would collaborate with an energetic and creative Children’s Team, including one full time and one part time Children’s Assistant.  This position performs all purchasing, cataloging, and collection management for children’s services, in addition to assisting the Children’s Team with the planning and execution of programs for ages 0 to 12.  This position is a non-supervisory position and reports directly to the Head of Reference.  The ideal candidate would have excellent public facing skills along with an ability to build and maintain community and patron relationships.  Please refer to the job description for a complete list of duties and responsibilities.  Interested candidates should attach a cover letter and resume with their application.  This position is eligible for health insurance, paid time off, and inclusion in the Wisconsin Retirement System.



Community (Salem) Library    Youth Services Library Assistant (part-time)

The Community Library is currently accepting applications for a part-time Library Assistant to work with our Public Services Department.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Post high school coursework and/or some college course work required;
  • Four-year college degree, commensurate military experience, or equivalent continuing education preferred;
  • High quality customer service skills;
  • Experience in planning programming for children and teens;
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to convey information in educational, instructional, and creative manners;
  • Advanced computer skills and Internet search techniques;
  • Experience working with children in a library or school setting and public speaking experience;
  • Access to a personal vehicle for work use.


Duties and Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to preparing, implementing and evaluating age/interest appropriate recreational and informational programming for children birth to 18, their families, and organizations serving children; providing reference and reader’s advisory guidance to children, teens and adults; promoting the summer reading program to local schools; and working with volunteers assisting with the summer reading program.

 

Hours and Location

The present requirement is for an average of approximately 25 hours per week including day, evening, and weekend hours.  Flexibility in scheduling is required.  The position will include working at both Community Library locations and at both youth and adult reference desks.

 

Salary

2023 starting hourly wage is $16.66 per hour.
