Connecting Wisconsin Libraries

  • Thursday September 26th at 3 p.m.. Meeting link.
  • Join us to hear about WEMTA’s Battle of the Books program and how Beloit Public Library runs a similar program called BookQuest.
  • Connecting Wisconsin Libraries is a networking group that facilitates collaboration between school and public libraries, shares pertinent information, ideas, events, and best practices, and develops cooperative support for the youth we serve.

Wisconsin Out of School Time Alliance (WOSTA) STEM resources survey

  • The Wisconsin Out of School Time Alliance (WOSTA) is working to develop a directory and map of STEM resources in Wisconsin in an effort to strengthen STEM learning experiences for young people in our state.  An 11-state study showed that participation in STEM-focused afterschool programs leads to increases in youth STEM interest, identity, career knowledge, and 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking. These benefits strengthen not only our schools and communities but also our workforce as a whole.
  • Thousands of students in WI regularly attend afterschool and summer programs in schools, community centers, churches, etc.  Our goal is to empower the educators who work with these students each day to lead engaging STEM activities.  We want to learn about the work Wisconsin public libraries do and learn how we can help you connect with OST programs in your area.
  • This brief survey will help us identify valuable resources and connect them to the educators who need them.
  • Please also feel free to forward this survey invitation to other relevant organizations in your area as well.
  • Your voice matters – help us launch the next generation of scientists, astronauts, and problem-solvers!
