Storytime Underground and Library Neutrality

Recently, Storytime Underground took to Twitter to make the case for how libraries are not neutral entities.  From the racism of the DDC to the current discussions around the hashtag blacklivesmatter, the Storytime Underground librarians looked at how libraries serve their diverse communities.  The chief librarians of Storytime Underground (@StorytimeU) shared their thoughts on the neutrality of libraries and the importance of diverse collections, displays and staff via a Twitter Moments feed.  Check out the full feed HERE.

Early Intervention and other Developmental Milestones Resources

     As youth librarians and early literacy advocates, we are experts in early literacy skills development and subsequently know quite a bit about how a young child’s brain develops. For some of our parents, however, that can translate into us being experts about all-things parenting related.
     It’s easy to want to try and answer their questions, but we know we can’t be all things to all patrons.
