A Wealth of Eary Childhood Ideas

No Time for Flashcards is a blog created by a former preschool teacher/daycare provider who is now an at-home parent.  Frequently there is a wonderful collection of links to other blogs with ideas and suggestions.  A recent post has more than 60 early learning suggestions, ranging from experimenting with tasting different flavors on areas of the tongue to 10 ways to play with pom poms to making clothespin mermaids

Using pipe cleaners as chopsticks to pick up pom poms is a fun challenge, and it helps develop fine motor skills!  (From http://momandkiddo.blogspot.com/2012/08/10-ways-to-play-with-pom-poms.html)

Most of the posts linked to are written by parents who have found interesting, enriching and creative things to do with their kids.  Several of the activities would fit well into a library program or for free play after storytime or toddler time.  A lot of kids don't get exposed to activities like these, but they are terrific, holistic and SIMPLE ways to really engage kids in learning important skills.  The library seems like a perfect place for parents and kids to learn about things they can do at home, too!

What are your favorite activities to do with young kids?
