We open the day with Cyndi Giorgis, University of Nevada Las Vegas, author of The Wonder Of It All: When Literature and Literacy Intersect; Thom Barthelmess, Director of the Butler Children's Literature Center,Dominican University; Junko Yokato, Director of the Center for Teaching Through Children's Books,National Louis Unversity and author of Children’s Books In Children’s Hands , Melanie Koss, Nothern Illinois University, Member of the 2013 Caldecott Award Committee, and Nick Glass, Founder and Principal, TeachingBooks.net The program will also include a number of classroom teachers at various teaching levels and from different school districts who will speak about their use of the books with children.
