Teen Trends and Pew Study

The School Library Journal recently featured an article on teen trends in the library, based on the latest Pew report. Major findings include:

* 85 % of 16-17 year-olds read at least one print book in the past year, making them significantly more likely to have read a book in this format than any other age group.

* 60 % of younger patrons say they go to the library to sit and read, study, or watch or listen to media, while only 45 % of library visitors age 30 and older do this.

* 67 % of younger Americans say they would be interested in a digital media lab for creating and uploading digital content; 27 % say they would be "very likely" to use such a resource.
