Coloring Pages?

Coloring pages can be soothing and fun, but kids of all ages get more developmental goodies out of a blank piece of paper

I really enjoyed this comic, created by ALSC member and blogger Lisa Nowlain, about her problems with coloring pages.  I have fond memories of using coloring books with my cousin, but we always spent more time creating scabby knees for the princesses and other characters than we did focused on coloring in the lines.  Lisa says she does have some coloring pages out at the library, but she has recently made (and shared!) some more open-ended ones that are really popular, and allow kids more room to explore and create.  Look at the end of the post for some good suggestions for learning about process art.
