Farewell to Kelsey, Welcome to Susie, and Thanks to Both!

This spring, Kelsey Johnson-Kaiser, YSS Member at Large, left Wisconsin to head the children's room at the Central Branch of the St. Paul Public Library in Minnesota.  We were excited for her, but I'm not going to lie, the YSS board was sad to see Kelsey go.  In a few short months, she made many significant contributions to YSS:  as a panelist for a YSS Powerhouse Presents webinar; as a planner for the upcoming WLA Pre-Conference about school age services; as a coordinator for the Early Literacy Calendar; and as a smart, organized, insightful and hard-working member of our board.

Lucky for the YSS Board and for youth services librarians in our state, we had another member waiting in the wings.  Susie Menk, from the Manitowoc Public Library, was a candidate for the position last year, and when I contacted her to ask if she'd be interested in stepping in to the position vacated by Kelsey, she was happy to oblige!  She has taken over work on the Early Literacy Calendar and on the planning committee for the Pre-Conference, and I know I speak for the entire board and youth services community when I express my appreciation for her being willing to step in mid-stream to help make things happen and provide us with her own brand of insight and smarts!

You may have seen a call for board member candidates in the blog recently--I hope you'll consider joining us.
