It is always extraordinary to to hear the speeches by children's and young adult book creators at the award ceremonies at ALA annual conference (just concluding in Orlando FL): The Coretta Scott King Awards, the Pura Belpre Awards, the Newbery/Caldecott/Wilder awards and many more. They are moving, inspirational and aspirational.
The ALSC speeches are available for YOU to read and be inspired by here. And coming within the next year, ALSC will be making the actual recordings available for anyone (who loves children's literature but can't be present at ALA) to listen to!
