Adult & Teen Services Librarian, Pauline Haas (Sussex) Public Library (full-time)

The Pauline Haass Public Library in Sussex, WI is seeking a creative, self-motivated, patron-focused individual to provide library services to teens and adults. The ideal candidate enjoys connecting with teens, building relationships with community partners, and interacting with patrons of all ages; embraces the dynamic nature of public service; is comfortable both with current technologies and learning new ones; projects a helpful, welcoming personality, and is well organized.  An ALA accredited MLS or MLIS or equivalent coursework is required. This full-time position is for 40 hours per week and is open due to a promotion. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: customer service at the adult reference desk, planning and execution of teen programming and outreach, assistance with adult programming and outreach, collection development, cataloging, technology troubleshooting and instruction for patrons and staff, and creation of marketing materials and displays. We’re looking for someone who is a team player but also comfortable with independent decision making, who takes initiative to increase the library’s value to the community, who can effectively and tactfully enforce library policies, and who desires to be an active participant in the organization.

Additional information about this position: 


The Adult & Teen Services Librarian serves the residents of Sussex and its surrounding areas. This individual helps to staff the adult services desk along with two other full-time staff members and additional staff coverage, generally working one night each week and every fourth weekend. In addition to leading teen programming and collection efforts, this individual contributes to the collection and programming efforts of the Adult Services team. During weekend/evening shifts and as needed, this position assumes Librarian-in-Charge duties. This position is supervised by the Assistant Director/Adult & Teen Services Manager.   


Required: 

  • ALA accredited MLS or MLIS or equivalent 
  • At least one year customer service experience, with public library experience strongly preferred 
  • Enthusiasm for teen services  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a positive attitude 
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and assume ownership of the role 

Preferred:

  • Experience planning and presenting programs 
  • Cataloging experience 
  • Graphic design skills 
  • Experience working with teens

Kewaunee Public Library  Children's Librarian (part time)
The Kewaunee Public Library is seeking an innovative, tech-savvy, customer-focused, and self-motivated individual to join our team that serves the community of Kewaunee and Kewaunee County. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, readily adapts to change, and projects a welcoming and helpful personality. Applicant must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be comfortable helping people of all ages in a group or one-on-one setting.   Candidates with work experience in youth services settings, library, customer service, or technology are preferred.  On the fly tech instruction is a frequent part of the job, so the qualified applicant must be comfortable using and troubleshooting a wide range of technology. Attention to detail and organization is key. Providing high quality early literacy learning experiences is the goal. The Position is 20 hours a week.
