Now that we are understanding just how long this pandemic is going to continue to grip us, it is occurring to more of us that we really have to commit to this new normal. Part of that commitment, if you have done live presentations from storytimes to workshops with your peers, is upping your game in the virtual presentation arena.
While many of us have bearded the lion of virtual storytimes, it seems that fewer of us have developed comfort around doing presentations (both informally and formally) for our peers and other adults. I have sat through some truly dreadful presentations and workshops during pandemic times- a little too casual; a little too unprepared; too little information of use (ok, that last one can happen with live presentations too!).
I have also seen some great, snap-crackle-and-pop prezis from people both locally, regionally and nationally. The difference between the good and the dreck-worthy? It comes down to knowing your material; being prepared; being thoughtful as you present and treating your audience and your presentation as seriously in the virtual realm as you would in the real world.
A recent blog post does a brilliant job of listing things to consider and brush up to make your video presentations fabulous! You can read about here.
