Poster Contest for WI 5th Graders

Attention WI Libraries:

The Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children and Adults is hosting our annual poster contest, with the theme of “Bring Our Missing Children Home,” in honor of National Missing Children’s Day which is May 25th each year. We encourage all Wisconsin fifth graders to participate in this contest. The winner for the state of Wisconsin will be recognized at a ceremony at their school and will be entered into the national contest. The winner of the national contest will win a trip to Washington, DC to participate in the National Missing Children’s Day ceremony this May. All poster entries are also eligible to appear on the Wisconsin AMBER Alert website www.amberalertwisconsin.org.

On average, 13 children are reported missing throughout the state of Wisconsin every day.

It is so important for children to be educated on topics surrounding missing kids, including running away, getting lost, and being abducted. In 2021, so far, we have had 11 AMBER Alert activations, the highest year since the program began in 2003. We encourage you to use this poster contest as an engaging and educational opportunity to get students talking about the causes and consequences of being a missing child.

Not sure where to start? Check out https://www.missingkids.org/netsmartz/home or https://www.missingkids.org/education/kidsmartz.

Posters must be received by the Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children and Adults by February 4, 2022, to be eligible.

Please see  flyer below for poster information.  I am the Wisconsin Clearinghouse Coordinator and would be happy to answer any questions and provide the entry packets to all educators!

Thank you for your time and efforts!

Melissa
